Oct. 8, 2008 - OCSEA leaders know that political factors impact public employees and government services each and every day. That's why OCSEA Pres. Eddie Parks at the Oct. 4 Steward Conference urged all union activists to Get Out The Vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and make change that matters for all Ohio families. FULL STORY

About Stewardship
The OCSEA Board of Directors established a set of policies regarding the selection of stewards, maintenance of stewardship, steward functions, and steward incentives.

Review the OCSEA Board Policy No. 15 (PDF) for details.

Check out the training options and additional materials below. Also, browse the toolbox links at left for valuable resources, forms and more.

Members, stewards and other leaders should note that implicit in these policies is the fact that stewards are not officers, but technicians. OCSEA's set of policies on stewardship:

  • Requires that steward lists are kept up-to-date.
  • Ties a steward's length of service to the term of the appointing president thus avoiding issues of lifetime tenure.
  • Streamlines educational requirements for stewards and recommends education for chapter officers.
