Quality

Union activists across state do the “Q”

Aug. 11, 2005 - Quality is happening all over the state. Just browse the list below to see what fellow activists are doing.

DAS

  • Awarded a Workforce Development grant to design a quality refresher training that they will share with other agencies.

BWC

  • On July 1, 2005, they implemented a process to certify facilitators at either an Associate or Master Level.

Education

  • They have four quality circle teams currently active.

Health

  • Has formed several process improvement teams.

Industrial Commission

  • Labor and management are working together to create and begin quality training for new employees in the agency.

  • A new process improvement team is being formed.

ODJFS

  • Three new Union Quality Coordinators have been designated; John Loomis, Larry Cremeens, and Gretchen Genung.

  • A one-day Quality Overview course was developed for their staff.

  • The Quality Office is assisting with the rollout of the Performance Management Logic Model.

  • The Child Support Office and Local Operations Office will submit an application for the Ohio Partnership for Excellence this year. [ Top ]

ODOT

  • District 10 Marietta and District 12 Garfield Heights received the Governor’s Award for Excellence for being “Outstanding examples of excellence in the state of Ohio and for exhibiting world class processes that serve as role models for others.”

  • This year 32 ODOT employees have committed to be examiners for the Ohio Partnership for Excellence.

  • The Ohio Partnership for Excellence identified ODOT’s Organization Performance Index (OPI) measures as the best practice to be shared at a workshop at their Annual Quest for Success Conference, September 16 & 17, in Columbus.

  • ODOT’s union management partnership was identified as a key strength in its OPE feedback report. ODOT continues to maintain a union and management quality coordinator in each district, as well as statewide. [ Top ]

Public Safety

  • Exceeded their Combined Charitable Contribution goal by 121%. They collected $38,128 and will be able to provide 129,954 meals.

  • Forty-three (43) employees from Public Safety were in attendance at the July 19 th Pathways to Excellence event held at OCSEA. A total of 171 state employees attended the event, the largest turnout ever for a Pathways event. [ Top ]

Taxation

  • Conducted an employee satisfaction survey to improve morale and satisfaction. The survey contained 81 questions and they received 850 responses. Four action teams will complete improvements this year: External communications, Internal communications, Career satisfaction, and Development.
